Thomas Clausen, Program Director, École Polytechnique

A graduate of Aalborg University, Denmark (M.Sc., PhD – civilingeniør, cand.polyt), and a Senior Member of the IEEE, Thomas has, since 2004 been on faculty at Ecole Polytechnique, France’s premiere technical and scientific university, where he holds the Cisco endowed “Internet of Everything” academic chaire.

At Ecole Polytechnique, Thomas leads the computer networking research group. He has developed, and coordinates, the computer networking curriculum, and co-coordinates the Masters program in “Advanced Communication Networks” (ACN). He has published more than 80 peer-reviewed academic publications (which have attracted more than 12000 citations) and has authored and edited 24 IETF, Standards, has consulted for the development of IEEE 802.11s, and has contributed the routing portions of the recently ratified ITU-T G.9903 standard for G3-PLC networks – upon which, e.g., the current SmartGrid & ConnectedEnergy initiatives are built. He serves on the scientific council of ThinkSmartGrids (formerly: SmartGridsFrance).

Prof. Daniel Suchet, Professor at the Physics Department of Ecole Polytechnique

Daniel Suchet is a professor at the Physics department of Ecole polytechnique, France. After in PhD in experimental quantum mechanics, he specialized in the physics of energy conversion, and teaches to undergraduate, masters and engineer students. He is notably responsible for the engineer training program "Energies for the 21st century" at Ecole polytechnique. His research at the Institut du Photovoltaique d'Ile de France (IPVF) are dedicated to disruptive strategies to achieve very high efficiencies in solar energy conversion, and he co-chairs the Energy For Climate (E4C) interdisciplinary researche center. He is also involved in scientific outreach towards non-scientific publics.
