France deploys the COVID certificate

Tout public

France deployed the COVID certificate (Passe Sanitaire in French) since June 9 to support a secure recovery and continuation of business and activities. The Pass is required to access specific places, but not to study in a higher education institution.

What is the COVID certificate?

The COVID certificate (Passe Sanitaire) is a health proof in digital (with the TousAntiCovid app) or paper format of three types:

  • A proof of full vaccination
  • A negative RT-PCR or antigenic test result dated from less than 72 hours
  • A positive RT-PCR or antigenic test result proving that you are cured from Covid-19 for 11 days dated from under 6 months.

Who is concerned by the COVID certificate?

The COVID certificate is required for major individuals (18+ y.o.). Its application will be deployed to the 12-17 y.o. starting on September 30, 2021.

On the French territory, the use of the “Passe Sanitaire” is required in the following places:

  • Hobby and leisure places (cinemas, theatres, museums, etc.)
  • Social places (cafés, bars, restaurants, etc.)
  • Care places such as hospitals, except in case of emergency
  • Transports: trains, planes, coaches for long distance travels
  • Major Shopping centres

The COVID certificate (Passe Sanitaire) will not be required in higher education institutions for education purposes. It won’t be required in university libraries and university restaurants either. However, it is required for festive events organised during the start-of-year period by student unions, or when higher education institutions organise cultural and sports events (unrelated to the study courses) in institutions accepting external public.

Only a few clicks in the TousAntiCovid app are needed to obtain a digital COVID certificate.
