ONE HEALTH @ CITYU X FRANCE
17 September 2021
4:00pm - 6:30pm (HK) / 10:00am – 12:30pm (FR)
Online via Zoom
In an age of globalisation, the world increasingly recognizes the complex interconnections between humans, animals and their environments. In order to best protect ourselves from disease outbreaks, it is imperative for experts to coordinate on future initiatives using the One Health approach.
Similarly, the biotechnology industry is a key player in developing biological processes to combat diseases, grow environmentally sustainable agricultural practices, and create cleaner energy.
To tackle these pressing subjects, City University of Hong Kong, Campus France and the French Consulate, in line with biotech company - InvivoGen, and three leading French institutions (ISC Paris; Nantes-Atlantic National College of Veterinary Medicine, Food Science and Engineering; and Centrale Nantes), will organise two panel discussions on biotechnology and the contributions of veterinary medicine & engineering to the "One Health" approach.
A focus on new job opportunities, key skills for tomorrow’s One Health leaders and relevant academic training opportunities will be introduced throughout the debates and Q&A sessions.
This event builds upon the longstanding relationship between City University of Hong Kong and France. Since 2005, 30 France-Hong Kong Distinguished Lectures with prominent French scientists and Nobel Prize laureates have been organized. There are also 30+ academic exchanges between City University of Hong Kong and France. In November 2020, the French Consul-General, Mr. Alexandre Giorgini, spoke to distinguished guests and students as part of the University’s Dialogue Series with Consuls General.
