Peter Hasdell is the Associate Dean of Academic Programmes in the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is an academic, registered architect, urbanist, and interactive specialist. Peter Hasdell, Associate Dean (Academic Programmes); Leader of BA(Hons) Scheme in Design; Associate Professor
Peter Hasdell B.Sc.Arch.(hons), AA Dipl.(MArch.), RIBA., is the Associate Dean of Academic Programmes in the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. An academic, registered architect, urbanist, and interactive specialist, he graduated in Architecture from the University of Sydney and the Architectural Association in London. He has taught in architecture and design schools including the Bartlett School of Architecture; KTH Arkitektur; University of Manitoba; Hong Kong University and The Berlage Institute. He has been a research associate of high-profile research institutes including Chora Institute of Architecture and Urbanism, London; and the Centre for Architecture Structures and Technology (C.A.S.T.), Manitoba Canada. He founded and directed Architecture and Urban Research Lab (A+URL), Stockholm; Pneuma in Canada; and currently directs In-situ Project (http://insitu-project.com), a research platform focusing on sustainable community development that has co-designed and constructed several community projects in rural China. His present research focuses on the metabolic architecture on the scales of the city (city as a life form, urban ecology), and as architecture (interactive and responsive architectures). Recent publications include Border Ecologies: Hong Kong’s Mainland Frontier, Birkhauser 2016. He has practiced widely in Sydney, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong as a planner, urbanist and architect.
