DESCRIPTION OF INSTITUTION
The Sustainable Design School was founded in 2013 out of a personal initiative of three confirmed designers: Patrick Le Quement a Design & Strategy Consultant coming from the automobile world, Marc Van Peteghem a Naval Architect and Co-founder of VPLP Yacht Design, and Maurille Lariviere, a Designer and Professor at the École Polytechnique in Paris.
Like most of our fellow design schools, we teach concepts of sustainable design, such as circular economy, biomimicry, sustainable design history, sustainable design processes, cradle-to-cradle, and so forth. The understanding of climate change and the full dimension of the 17 SDG’s are some of the basics at our institution, together with all of the more traditional design approaches towards products, services and experiences.
Our graduate students is: That they have the tools, knowledge, self-awareness and development to be leaders of change for a sustainable designed future.
The SDS offers undergraduate & postgraduate courses leading to a Master level diploma called “Designer in Sustainable Innovation”. The diploma has the highest official French recognition RNCP and is hence recognised on international level.
The SDS also offers a dual degree programme with SKEMA Business School, M.Sc. “Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Design”.
Thirdly, the SDS offers a PhD programme, in partnership with the University Côte d’Azur.
There is a variety of short-term summer courses.
